Newcomer Arya Parvathi Joins Cast of Benny Safdie's 'Lizard Music' Alongside Dwayne Johnson

Variety Appoints Matt Donnelly as Executive Film Editor

Paramount seeks a November trial for its merger with Warner Bros. to avoid daily penalties and ease industry uncertainty. However, a coalition of 12 states and the Writers Guild of America are pushing for an April 2027 trial, citing the need for extensive discovery and a thorough review of the proposed $111 billion deal's antitrust implications. The dispute highlights the complex legal and economic considerations surrounding major industry consolidations.

Arya Parvathi is set to make her feature film debut in Benny Safdie's fantasy movie "Lizard Music." She joins a star-studded cast that includes Dwayne Johnson, Alicia Silverstone, Regina Hall, Tim Heidecker, and Theo Leber. The film is based on Daniel Pinkwater's novel and tells the story of a boy who discovers a magical world through a late-night broadcast of lizards playing music.

Variety has promoted Matt Donnelly to the role of Executive Editor of Film, effective August 17. In this capacity, Donnelly will oversee all film-related content for Variety's print magazine and online platform, encompassing breaking news, analysis, investigative journalism, film festival coverage, and Hollywood culture stories. He succeeds Brent Lang, who is departing to become editor-in-chief of IndieWire. Donnelly, based in Los Angeles, joined Variety in 2018 as a senior film writer and has since gained recognition for his impactful reporting.
